David Bloom Receives Outstanding Contribution Award

David Bloom, Group Business Development Director at Subsea 7 in Aberdeen, has received the Outstanding Contribution Award at this year’s Subsea UK annual awards.

The award recognises the significant contribution made by David to the subsea industry during a career spanning over forty years.

Commenting on David’s award, Neil Gordon Chief Executive of Subsea UK, said: “David is a well-recognised and well-respected figure within the subsea industry and this recognition is thoroughly deserved. Not only has he contributed significantly to the industry over the course of his career, he has overseen
Subsea 7’s ambitious expansion plans to great success and has worked hard to position the firm as a global leader in its field.”

Accepting the award, David said: “I feel honoured to receive this highly coveted award for doing a job I love and feel very lucky to be included in such an impressive list of winners. To be in the company of such inspiring and talented people is very humbling.”

David joined the offshore industry in 1975 as Financial Controller at Oceaneering and during a 20 year career there held various roles, including General Manager of the Southern North Sea and West Africa, before spending three years at McDermott Subsea as Business Development Manager in the North Sea and West Africa.

In 1998, he joined Brown & Root as UK Business Development Manager, and in the years that followed played a crucial part in a number of significant integrations and acquisitions leading up to the merger of Acergy and Subsea 7 in 2011.

Since 2005, he has been Subsea 7’s Group Business Development Director responsible for key company accounts and also Global Account Director for BP and Shell. As Group Business Development Director, David guides Subsea 7’s strategic direction and supports the Executive Team in the management of long-term relationships with clients.

Commenting on David’s award, Steve Wisely, Subsea 7 Executive Vice President, Northern Hemisphere & Life of Field, said: “I am incredibly pleased for David as this award recognises the significant contribution he has made to our industry. For over forty years he has been influential in the way the industry responds to commercial challenges, initiating new approaches that have helped to strengthen our client and contractor relationships. Throughout his career he has also shared his commercial knowledge with others, and placed great importance on mentoring the next generation of commercial professionals. I am certain all his colleagues will be delighted that he has won this award.”
