OTC 2016: Subsea developments made possible by step-change technology

At this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), Subsea 7 will demonstrate how subsea technology is advancing to address today’s challenges. Subsea 7 will present eleven technical papers at the conference on a number of step change technologies including:

Electrically Heat Traced Flowlines - A key challenge for new subsea developments is maintaining the right temperature within the pipeline infrastructure to reduce the risk of blockage from hydrates or wax. Advances in heated pipe technologies, such as the Electrically Heat Traced Flowline, can provide a solution to managing flow assurance, overcoming the challenges of longer distance tie-backs and greater water depths, in a cost-effective way.

Pipeline Bundle solution - For the exploration of High Pressure / High Temperature (HPHT) fields, Pipeline Bundles offer a technical and commercial advantage, providing the necessary insulation and integrity for transporting hydrocarbons at high temperatures.

Subsea 7’s Vice President of Technology Thomas Sunde said:

"At OTC 2016, Subsea 7 is demonstrating technologies that reduce cost, enhance production and extend field life. Our strategic technology programmes include a wide range of solutions for clients and different field characteristics."

Project execution and engineering expertise that deliver significant client returns, and the importance of partnering and early engagement with clients, will also feature on Subsea 7’s exhibition booth.

"In the current climate, true collaboration with our clients and suppliers is key to demonstrate the value partnering with Subsea 7 can add to identify cost saving opportunities, encourage simpler ways of working, innovating to find efficiencies to lower the cost of maintaining producing fields and infrastructure, and to also make new projects economically viable," comments Steve Wisely, Executive Vice President of Subsea 7’s Northern Hemisphere business.

Subsea 7 is exhibiting at the Offshore Technology Conference from 2-5 May in Houston, booth #1325.
